When I first saw the Boker Cop Tool online, I decided that I had to have one. It is advertised as a lever, chisel, belt cutter, scraping tool, window breaker, and all around multifunctional knife. Even though I am not a cop, but a riverboat captain, I thought it was just the thing I was looking for.

While I was waiting for it to come in, I found out that a friend of mine had one and I asked if I could check it out. After a quick inspection, my excitement started to fade. I thought the cutting edge was too short and I didn’t like the sheath and belt clip.

When my Boker cop tool came in I opened it and gave it a glance over. I was no more impressed than when I held the first one. I threw it in my top drawer and forgot about it for a few weeks.

One morning running late for work and not being able to find my pocket knife, I grabbed the cop tool, threw it in my bag and headed out the door. When I got to work, I slid the belt clip on my belt. It moved around too much so I flipped it and wore it inside my belt with the clip facing out. It was surprisingly secure and comfortable.
As the day went on I found more and more little jobs that this boring knife could handle with no problem. The small serrated blade was cutting tie straps, ropes and cardboard boxes with ease. The scraper end helped pry open lids and heavy covers on the deck, jobs that are usually reserved for heavy duty Flathead screw drivers. The finger grooves and notches are all placed in the perfect spot to get that extra grip and apply an extra little bit of pressure or leverage without hurting or fatiguing your hand.

I found the more that I carry this tool/knife, the more things I find for it to do. It performs every time. Iit’s a sold light weight hunk of metal that can be manipulated to perform tons of daily tasks.

I do not wear it every day, and its not always my go-to tool, but it does not get left at home. Mostly it rides in my work/daily carry bag. I find that the more times I use it, the more often I tend to grab for it before I start working on something.

I think the only down fall is that it’s not something you would think about using until you've actually used it a few times. To be honest, you probably already have a tool that will do the job your working on, and this might leave it in the nitch market.

    Pros:
It will do almost anything you want it to within reason.

It’s strong, solid construction and light weight are comfortable to carry and use.

    Cons:
You have to give it a chance, it’s almost a nitch tool.
It’s leather sheath feels cheap compared to the tool it carries.

The tension on the knife is too light and it can fall out of the sheath under the right conditions.

    Suggested Improvements:
It could have a wider chisel/scraper and a slightly longer knife edge,
It could have a better quality sheath, or could make the kydex sheath standard.

i don't wear a belt while working but i could see this tool being handy for a lot of tasks as i also work on the river. if this was offered in a folder style lock blade with a solid lock that would allow you to carry but still have a solid tool i think this would be a hard to beat tool. is anything like this offered?
