Greetings all... New to BOW... I was invited by Suerto (wow, guess I should not have said that)... Anyway... This is part of a post I made earlier on the firearms forum... Long post so strap yourself in... Zombie apocalypse talk has flown around my shop many a time... Suerto was part of a number of those conversations... With that said, you have many factors to consider when battling zombies... What kind of zombie are you up against? Are they the slow zombies are the fast ones? Will you be part of a group or do you expect to be alone? Do you live in an area where large hordes of zombies will be the problem or will they be singles or small clusters? Will you be in a fortified structure or roaming the country side?... Lots to consider… When I made the Zombie kit for my truck I planned to be alone and on the road with the goal of getting back to my home in one piece being paramount… For starters, I always conceal carry so I will have the flavor of the day on my hip with a few extra mags… Next, the 12 gauge pump gun is mans best friend… From dust to slugs you can throw more varieties of lead down a 12 gauge than anything else… I have a Mossberg Maverick with the nickel marine finish and synthetic stocks, Pachmayr deluxe leather Velcro attach recoil pad along with a bandolier of 00 Buck and some slugs… It has a rail attached to the receiver and an Eotech sitting on top… On a good day I can hit a pie plate from the bench at 100 yards with a 525 grain Lyman drag stabilized slug (I cast them myself)… If that don’t pop a zombie head then give up and coat yourself with BBQ sauce… 12 gauge shells can be found dang near everywhere in south Louisiana so even a search of a typical T-Boy 4WD truck will likely turn up a few… Even if they are just birdshot it is better than a dry mag tube… I also keep a 9mm handy… It might be a “girl gun” but 9mm is a very common round much like 12 ga so you have a better chance of finding ammo to re-supply then if you were running around with a 10mm or a 45 Win Mag… I also have a well made back pack with padded spine, padded shoulder straps, and a waist strap, water bottles, mil spec machete, cold steel shovel (truly bad ass shovel that is more of a weapon than a shovel), compass, clear and dark safety glasses, hearing protection, German camouflage Gortex suit, magnesium flint, k-bar hobo knife, spare set of clothing, rubber boots, an assortment of ammo (for yourself and you might have to re-supply some new found human friends), I also carry a 4 AA high intensity LED flashlight (uses the same battery as my Eotech so I don’t have multiple battery types to worry about), etc, etc, etc… If roads are blocked you will have to do some walking… Keep in mind that this is not a video game so if you try to put 50 or 60 lbs of crap on your back you better be in decent shape or you will have your face in the dirt before mile one is hit… There are many other things to consider but with the basic camping tools and firearms you should have a fighting chance… Now once I get home the hardware will start to fly… 7.62 Nato is my close companion… Either my PTR-91 or my SAIGA .308… Good luck and God Speed… BMB OUT
