I've looked off and on at a nice walking staff now that I actually walk more and never saw anything that really blew my skirt up. Came across this today

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, and die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

that one is too pricey for weak knife and a dart blower that will not be used.
A good one that is light and near unbreakable I think would be better. Below are even three from Cold Steel (highest under $65). The 6 foot Wax wood is my favorite at 19.99. There is also a 4 ft

Or go to BudK and search on walking:

And for personal protection pack one of these (I have one and highly recommend this purchase) $19.99. Sheath sucks but knife is good - read reviews.

Prepare for the worst, and dare the Good Lord to disappoint you.
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

yep, I just cut a good hickory sapling when the rare occasion warrants it, i.e. crossing shallow creeks, or checking the water depth under marsh grass around beaver ponds and such when I am scouting for deer season
