Need Iphone Help!!!1

OK. I bought a new Macbook Pro.

I have been uploading and updating my Iphone and My wife's Iphone on our PC desktop.

I am taking my MacBook with me to Afghanistan, so I want to put everything that is currently on my Iphone onto my MacBook pro.

However, when i connect my Iphone, it tells me if I sync, it will erase everything on the Iphone and replace it with what is in the MacBook Pro's Itunes...which is nothing.

Question:

How do i get what is currently on my Iphone onto my new computer without losing what is already on the phone?

I am probably just stiupid, but i do not see how that works.

Well your question is really two merged in to one. What you want isn't possible. Without a little work.

The music companys required apple to make the transfer from the iPhone back to ONE computer. They didn't want it to be used to pirate music.

So you can either use that program I showed you to take all content off your phone and put it on the Mac, and redo your playlists.

To manually transfer the playlists and music off of the Windows computer to the Mac computer, bypassing the iPhone. Then you sync the iPhone to the new Mac, and it stops syncing with the windows.


If you take a look at that first program I sent you, you will notice it has the ability to archive text messages into a PDF or text file. You being a LEO may be of some use to you.

No podcasts is part of music.

Choice 1
Copy all music podcasts from windows to Mac
Authorize Mac with your iTunes account
Sync and erase iPhone to new Mac

OK, so i am trying the techniques above, and i run into a new problem.....

I bought a 1TB external USB hard drive as a back up. I am using it to transfer the itunes library from one computer to the Macbook.

When I plug it into the Macbook, it comes up, but it comes up as a read only disk and will not let me add anything to it?

What gives? I can use it as a regular disk on the PC.

Click the icon for the drive on the screen. Highlight it, don't open it. Then hit apple and 'i'

Change permissions from read only to read/write. You may have to format it on the mac. Then use it cross platform

It's not letting me change any permissions and i cannot see a way to format it.

Permission are UNIX on the Mac side. The new hd needed to be partitioned and formatted for msdos fat. It was probably NTFS that the Mac can read but not write to.
